How to Calculate Shift Length
Calculate shift length from clock-in time, clock-out time, unpaid breaks, and overnight shifts.
Formula
Shift Length = Clock Out - Clock In - Unpaid Breaks.
Overnight example
A 10:00 PM to 6:30 AM shift is 8.5 elapsed hours. With a 30 minute unpaid break, paid shift length is 8.0 hours.
